Re: Overcoming infatuation, love, crush..
Dear AskBeloved,
What you just mentioned is exactly what is killing me. I went to this church and there was this lady who is the member of the choir. Every time I look at her she just draw my attention away and she would be glued in my mind for quite a long time, I cannot realy say she is disturbing me because I manage to get the message of the sermon, but its been a year now.
It fustrates me because its the first time temptations seem to overcome me, and some times having no one to understand what you going through can be realy disturbing. I even decided to change the church I am currently in because its too much for for what I can bear.
But I realy don't know if that would be a valid reason or it would just be a proof of failure I am, and if that is the case I won't let it happen without a fight because I hate losing.
Please advise...

Dear Patrick,
Thanks for bringing this disturbing issue to light. I wonder if it could be crush or infatuation that you're feeling for this lady but none of it will succeed in killing you in Jesus' name, amen!
I will NOT advise you to change churches because that's a sign of failure and for how long will you continue to switch churches whenever you meet such temptations? You can switch seats so that you'll see less of her but DON'T leave the church.
What I'll suggest you do is to really ask yourself what captivates you about this lady that will make her remain glued to your mind for a long time. Then bring it under the searching light of God's Word because He has promised us a way out of any temptation that seems bigger than us.
You will also have to resolve that you would not dwell on her because you have the power over your mind and thoughts and remember that the Bible says that "as a man thinks in his heart, so is he". When she wants to come into your thought, do something useful like working, reading your Bible because an idle mind is the devil's workshop.
Tell yourself and the devil that you must win this battle over your mind and thought whether he likes it or not and believe that in Christ, victory will certainly be yours. I'll uphold you in prayers and you will surely triumph in Jesus' name, amen!
Remain richly blessed..
@moderator. i think a few would be caught in between heeding the bible's advise to "...flee every appearance of iniquity..." and "...resist the devil and he will flee from you..."
ReplyDeleteSometimes we flee wen we should resist and resist when we should flee and aither one of the two mistakes is equally as fatal.
Thanks Maxyclass for your contribution. I totally agree with you and what I'll add to it is that in all circumstances, we need to ask the Holy Spirit to equip us with the gift of discernment so as to know when to resist and when to flee.
