Hi Beloved, help me with this: Marriage
is an institution established by God, now what is the major goal of marriage?
Is it for procreation and what is the fate of a fruitless marriage? Similarly,
is marriage compulsory for a Christian? If yes, why do we have celibates in our
midst?
ANSWER:
Hi
dear, your question is packed full of many questions but I will try taking them
one by one.
First
of all, the MAJOR GOAL(s) of marriage as written in Gen.1:28 are (a) be
fruitful and increase in number (b)
fill the earth and subdue it and (c) rule over
the fish of the sea, birds of the air and every living creature that moves on
the earth.
Secondly,
marriage is NOT SOLELY for PROCREATION. God told them to be fruitful, increase
in numbers and SUBDUE the earth. In marriage, we cannot question God when it
seems fruitless but must keep believing Him for the fruit of the womb.
Finally,
marriage IS NOT COMPULSORY for a Christian because we are born differently (Matt.
19:12) Jesus quoting from “The Message” translation said marriage is not for
everyone. So my dear, celibates in our midst is not a serious concern because
it is between them and their God.
Remain
richly blessed..
